A Brief Visit King David’s Lodge No. 209- San Luis Obispo, California:
During my recent trip to San Luis Obispo for a class at California Polytechnic University (Cal Poly) I had the privilege of meeting PM Robert Bettencourt and getting a brief tour/history of King David’s Lodge No. 209.
As you’ll see from the adjacent pictures, the lodge is situated in a bit of a unique position, as it has commercial tenants on either side of their entrance. A bit more in-depth description of the history behind this can be found at their website here: http://www.calodges.org/no209/SLOMasons/About_Our_Lodge.html
PM Bettencourt was able to accommodate the short window of time I had left at the end of my business trip and was able to give a concise, but thorough tour of the lodge. It is a truly beautiful and impressive structure inside. They’re currently in the process of re-modeling inside to restore the hardwood flooring to the majority of the interior. The meeting room is adorned with a large skylight above the altar and expertly crafted walls. I, in turn, gave Bro. Bettencourt a very brief overview of Benjamin Franklin Lodge No. 83 and invited him to visit if he ever finds himself in the area. This experience was excellent way to end my trip on a high note on the way to the airport!
